My name is Aria! That’s the name on my books, but you might also know me as Shinesurge. I’m an independent storyteller who has been giving away my stories for free on the internet in some serious capacity since 2013. If you really want to know more about me or how that works, you can read more on my author website.
Sprawlworks is the name of the imprint where I publish anything related to my ongoing fiction series, Kidd Commander! KC started as a webcomic that I’ve been posting online a little at a time for many years, and now I’m retelling it in prose, which I’m also posting online a little at a time. Sprawlworks on Substack is a newsletter that sends updates from the latest novel serialization straight to your email: read my writing for free, on your own terms, without worrying about trying to outrun an algorithm to find all your updates.
Currently, we’re running the very first book in the series, Grist to the Cannon!
If you somehow found your way here without already knowing what that is, the Goodreads page has the synopsis and some reviews to get you started.
Every other week a new scene will go up on my prose site, and if you’re subscribed to this publication you’ll get an email with the exact same material sent to you from Sprawlworks on Substack. Eventually we’ll finish this book and move on to the next in the series! Kidd Commander being freely accessible media is very important to me and I plan to keep sharing it this way as long as I’m able; if you’d like to help make sure I can do that, here are some ways you can support my work. You can also, of course, buy the finished book if you find yourself impatient to see what happens next.
If you’d like to follow me on social media I’m almost exclusively on tumblr these days, either as myself or posting infrequent novel development updates on the sprawlworks blog. You can follow me on bsky if you’d like to know when the comic updates or get reminders when my newsletter (with studio news, not with prose) goes up each month. If none of that suits you, there’s always my linktree.
Thanks for stopping by!
